Hoy se cumplen 199 años de la Revolución de Mayo de 1810.
La Revolución de Mayo fue un gran paso para la historia Argentina impulsada por la Revolución Francesa (1789 – 1801) con la idea de igualdad, fraternidad y libertad. En 1810 la ciudad de Buenos Aires, capital del Virreinato del Río de la Plata, era aún colonia española gobernada por el Virrey Cisneros. Al saber de la caída de la junta central de Sevilla, los criollos vieron la oportunidad de liberarse de España. En la llamada "Semana de Mayo", desde el 18 hasta el 25 de mayo, se forma la primera Junta de gobierno conformada por representantes de diversos sectores de la sociedad: Saavedra y Azcuénaga (militares), Belgrano, Castelli, Moreno y Paso (abogados), Larrea y Matheu (comerciantes) y Alberti (sacerdote).
Today is the 199th. Aniversary of 1810 May Revolution
The May Revolution took place in May 1810 in the city of Buenos Aires (back then the capital city of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata) and was a great step forward for Argentina's history. This event installed the first local government not designated by the Spanish Crown and although the revolution (a peaceful one) took place only in Buenos Aires, one of the consequences was that the head of the Viceroyalty, Viceroy Cisneros, was ousted from office and the newly formed "Primera Junta" took control of the government. This Junta (Assembly) was formed by representatives from different sectors of society: Saavedra y Azcuénaga (militaries), Belgrano, Castelli, Moreno y Paso (lawyers), Larrea y Matheu (merchants) y Alberti (priest).
